സ്ത്രീ പുരുഷ വിവേചനത്തെ തുടർന്ന് പ്രതിഷേധമെന്നോണം സ്ത്രീകൾക്ക് സൗജന്യ യാത്ര ഒരുക്കി സംഭവം ജർമനിയിലാണ് .സംഭവം ലിംഗനീതിയുടെ അഭാവത്തിലാണ് . ഒരേ ജോലിക്ക് രണ്ടുതരം ശമ്പളം. പുരുഷൻമാർക്ക് നൽകുന്നതിനേക്കാൾ ശമ്പളത്തേക്കാൾ 20 ശതമാനം കുറവ് ശമ്പളം മാത്രമാണ് ജർമനിയിയിൽ സ്ത്രീകൾക്ക് ലഭിക്കുന്നത്. പതിറ്റാണ്ടുകളായി ഇതാണ് അവസ്ഥ. രാജ്യത്തിന്റെയും ബർലിൻ നഗരത്തിന്റെയും നേതൃസ്ഥാനത്ത് വനിത വന്നിട്ടുപോലും ഈ ദയനീയാവസ്ഥയ്ക്ക് മാറ്റമില്ല. ശമ്പളത്തിലെ സ്തീ–പുരുഷ വിവേചനം ഏറ്റവും രൂക്ഷമായി നിലനിൽക്കുന്ന വലിയ രാജ്യങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നാമതാണ് ജർമനി. ഇക്കാര്യത്തിൽ അവർക്കുമുന്നിലുള്ളത് താരതമ്യേന ചെറിയ രാജ്യങ്ങളായ ചെക്ക് റിപ്പബ്ലികും, എസ്തോണിയയും മാത്രം.വിവേചനം മാറ്റമില്ലാതെ തുടരുന്നതിനിടെ ബർലിനിലെ പൊതു ഗതാഗത സംവിധാന അതോറിറ്റി പ്രതിഷേധിക്കാൻ തീരുമാനിച്ചു.ബസ്, ട്രാം, സബ് വേ എല്ലാം ഈ അതോറിറ്റിക്കു കീഴിലാണ്. വർഷത്തിൽ ഒരു ദിവസം സ്ത്രീകൾക്ക് അതോറിറ്റി ഡിസ്കൗണ്ട് അനുവദിക്കുന്നു. നിശ്ചിത തുക അടച്ചെടുക്കുന്ന ടിക്കറ്റ് കൊണ്ട് ഒരു ദിവസം മുഴുവൻ യാത്ര ചെയ്യാം. സ്ത്രീകൾക്കു മാത്രമാണ് ഈ ടിക്കറ്റ് ലഭിക്കുന്നത്. ഒരു ദിവസത്തേക്കു മാത്രം.പ്രതികരിക്കാൻ നിരവധി വഴികളുണ്ടെന്നു തെളിയിക്കുകയാണ് ജർമനിയിൽ പൊതുഗതാഗത സംവിധാനം നിയന്ത്രിക്കുന്ന അതോറിറ്റി.ഈ വർഷം സൗജന്യയാത്രയ്ക്ക് സ്ത്രീകൾക്ക് അവസരമൊരുക്കുന്നത് തിങ്കളാഴ്ച. ഈക്വൽ പേ ഡേ എന്നാണ് ഈ ദിവസം അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്. ശമ്പളത്തിലെ വിവേചനം ലോകത്തിന്റെ ശ്രദ്ധയിൽപെടുത്താൻ മൈൻഡ് ദ് പേ ഗ്യാപ് എന്ന മുദ്രാവാക്യമുയർത്തി ദിനം ആചരിക്കുന്നത്. വിവേചനം ശ്രദ്ധയിൽപെടുത്തുന്നതിനൊപ്പം വിവേചനത്തിനെതിരെ തങ്ങൾക്കു കഴിയാവുന്നതു ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്ന് ബോധ്യപ്പെടുത്തുകയാണ് ബെർലിനിലെ ഗതാഗത അതോറിറ്റി. ഇതിനൊപ്പം ഇതാദ്യമായി ഇത്തവണ മാർച്ച് എട്ട് രാജ്യാന്തര വനിതാ ദിനമായും ബർലിനിൽ ആഘോഷിച്ചു. 1988 ലാണ് ആദ്യമായി ഈക്വൽ പേ ഡേ അഥവാ തുല്യശമ്പള ദിവസം ആചരിച്ചത്. ആ വർഷം മുതൽ എല്ലാത്തവണയും ഈ ദിനം ആചരിക്കുന്നു.
