    केंद्र सरकार ने पॉपुलर फ्रंट ऑफ इंडिया (पीएफआई) को एक गैरकानूनी संस्था घोषित कर दिया है। सरकार ने पीएफआई पर अगले पांच सालों की अवधि के लिए बैन लगाया है। केंद्र की ओर से लगाए गए इस प्रतिबंध में संस्था के सभी सहयोगियों और तमाम मोर्चों को गैरकानूनी घोषित किया गया है।सरकार ने पीएफआई के अलावा रिहैब इंडिया फाउंडेशन (RIF), कैंपस फ्रंट ऑफ इंडिया (CFI), ऑल इंडिया इमाम काउंसिल (AIIC), नेशनल कॉन्फेडरेशन ऑफ ह्यूमन राइट्स ऑर्गनाइजेशन (NCHRO), रिहैब फांउडेशन केरल नेशनल विमेंस फ्रंट, जूनियर फ्रंट, एम्पावर इंडिया फाउंडेशन पर भी प्रतिबंध लगाया है। सरकार के इस कदम ने साफ कर दिया है कि देश को किसी भी रूप में नुकसान पहुंचाने का इरादा रखने वाले संगठनों को छोड़ा नहीं जाएगा।पीएफआई के देश विरोधी गतिविधियों में शामिल होने की आशंकाएं के चलते पिछले कई दिनों से सरकारी एजेंसियों ने संस्था पर नकेल कसी हुई थी। ईडी और एनआईए ने देश भर में संस्था के तमाम ठिकानों पर छापे मारे, जिसको लेकर बड़े स्तर पर विरोध भी देखने को मिला। मंगलवार को भी सरकार की पीएफआई के खिलाफ कार्रवाई जारी रही। कल सात राज्यों में स्थानीय पुलिस और आतंकरोधी दस्ते ने पीएफआइ से जुड़े ठिकानों पर छापा मारा और इससे जुड़े 170 से अधिक लोगों को हिरासत में लिया। पूछताछ के बाद इनमें से कई को गिरफ्तार भी किया गया है। इससे पहले गुरुवार को एनआइए के नेतृत्व में 15 राज्यों में 93 स्थानों पर छापेमारी हुई थी।पीएफआई के खिलाफ बीते गुरुवार हुए छापेमार कार्रवाई में मिले दस्तावेजों और गिरफ्तार आरोपितों से पूछताछ के बाद मिली जानकारी राज्यों के साथ साझा की गई। इसी के आधार पर सात राज्य - उत्तर प्रदेश, कर्नाटक, गुजरात, दिल्ली, महाराष्ट्र, असम और मध्य प्रदेश में स्थानीय पुलिस और आतंकरोधी दस्ते ने सोमवार-मंगलवार आधी रात को एक साथ छापे मारे। छापेमारी रात को लगभग 12.30 बजे शुरू हुई और अधिकतर जगहों पर सुबह तक पूरी कर ली गई। इस कार्रवाई में सबसे अधिक 75 लोगों को कर्नाटक से हिरासत में लिया गया है।
