Cloud is a Growing Target for Cyberattacks
Kids today are digitally wired and interconnected. #Smartphones, video games, consoles, smart TVs, and laptops are part of a staple diet in the daily life of the kid. The number of smartphone-carrying kids is drastically increasing. Computers are a basic necessity at school and homes for projects, research or more. They frequently download apps and play online games. Social networks target them for business purposes.
A Sophos report says, among Infrastructure as a Service users, 56% experienced an increase in the volume of attacks on their organization when compared to the previous year, and 67% were hit by #ransomware. In addition, 59% experienced an increase in complexity of attacks.
For many of these users, a lack of visibility into their infrastructure, unpatched vulnerabilities and resource misconfigurations make them susceptible to various types of attacks, including ransomware. Of those surveyed, only 37% track and detect resource misconfigurations and only 43% routinely scan IaaS resources for software vulnerabilities.
65% of cloud users reported not having visibility of all resources and their configurations, and only 33% said their organization has the resources to continuously detect, investigate and remove threats in their IaaS infrastructure.
“It is imperative that security is prioritized as organizations continue to adopt cloud services. This includes implementing traditional threat-based protections, as well as risk-based mitigations. Unpatched vulnerabilities and misconfigured resources are both preventable mistakes and avoidable risks that make life easier for attackers. Most attackers are not unstoppable criminal masterminds, but rather opportunistic cyber thugs looking for an easy payday,” according to Sophos.
However, the survey also found that more advanced IaaS users are twice as likely to report a decrease in attack impact than beginners, suggesting the appropriate defense mechanisms can go a long wદ્વારા VARINDIA | 40 અભિપ્રાયો

The Indian healthcare sector is under the constant Cyberattacks, resulting in sensitive data leaks, significant financial losses, disruption of operations, and damage to hospital's goodwill. The healthcare industry in India has faced 1.9 million cyberattacks in 2022 till November 28. India was the biggest target for cyberattacks after the United States in 2021 and 2022, with nearly 500 attacks last year, an increase of nearly a fourth. It has also brought with it new challenges in cybersecurity.
We have witnessed the incidents of Sun Pharmaceuticals' attack, AIIMS cyber-attack happened twice, and Safdarjung Hospital's hacking attack, putting the spotlight on the need for stronger cybersecurity infrastructure in the healthcare industry. A report says, AIIMs Security and IT infrastructure is managed by the Doctors but not the experts into cyber security. Whereas, the IT professionals have to take up this job.

Semiconductors, or chips, have properties that are somewhere between conductors and insulators. Usually made of silicon, they are used to power a wide range of devices - cars, laptops, smartphones, household appliances and gaming consoles. These semiconductors perform a host of functions such as powering displays and transferring data. So, a supply crunch has a consequent impact on sales of cars, fridges, laptops, TVs and other electronic devices. In India, the number of investors in cryptocurrencies has rapidly grown over the past year, and is now distorting how semiconductors are used. Global leaders and executives at multinational corporations are worried about the global shortage of semiconductors which has hit manufacturing and sales in numerous countries and no early solution is in sight. The unforeseen situation is not expected to improve anytime soon, and supply constraints could potentially continue into 2023. Though companies are on a war footing to ramp up production, the problem will likely worsen before reaching a resolution. Intel's chief executive, Pat Gelsinger, recently warned that the worst is yet to come. The surge in sales for electronic devices during the pandemic created a huge demand for semiconductors. But COVID-19 is not the only factor behind the shortage. The chip shortage has now become a talking point not just between companies and governments, but also between leaders of countries. Western countries have expressed a need to shift manufacturing within their countries and become self-reliant.
Another key reason is the tense relationship between the United States and China is also a factor, since many US companies do business with Chinese companies. For instance, Huawei, which supplied to American chip makers, has been blacklisted by the US government.
