When any organisation and users decide is going to adapt the technologies of metaverse and is capable of handling risk assessment for their infrastructure and connected devices, then only it is wise to get into the technology else it will be like jumping from frying pan to fire, since they will also expose themselves to a new class of security risks and vulnerabilities. The metaverse is a concept of a 3D digital world. It consists of virtual spaces that you can explore using an avatar you create. In the metaverse, you can play games, go shopping, hang out with friends at a virtual coffee shop, work with your colleagues in a virtual office, and much more. Some video games and work socialization tools have already implemented certain metaverse elements into their ecosystems. There are chances of personal data theft. The report said metaverse has enormous potential to further expand screen time and drive more bandwidth consumption. "Internet traffic is already 80% video and has been growing at a 30% CAGR. Augmented reality and virtual reality technologies are expected to see a boom as these are the technologies that are required for accessing the metaverse. According to the report, while 5G will support the metaverse ecosystem, the emergence of 6G will enhance metaverse use cases. It said the gaming segment is one of the segments where early use cases of metaverse are expected.

    The report highlighted that gaming is at an early stage in India and mobile gaming is being driven by mobile phones due to the emergence of affordable smartphones and 4G data services. Mobile internet remains the key medium for Indian users to go online, given relatively low fixed broadband penetration. The share of mobile gaming in online games is expected to increase in future, the report said. The report added that India is one of the leading countries in the world in terms of number of hours spent on mobile per day but it has low penetration of fixed broadband compared to global peers, which will be key to realise the full potential of metaverse. The Indian technology industry crossed the $200 bn revenue mark, reaching $227 bn revenue in FY 2022, witnessing a $30 bn incremental revenue in the year with an overall growth rate of 15.5%. Recording the highest ever growth since 2011, all sub-sectors of the industry recorded double-digit growth across. Exports (including hardware) recorded a growth of 17.2% clocking revenue of $178 bn which is over 51% share of India’s total services exports. India’s massive digital infrastructure played a key role in driving India’s tech adoption with public digital platforms becoming the bedrock of India’s digital advantage. Industry experts say, Fiscal 2022 has been a breakthrough year for the Indian technology industry. India has emerged as a global hub for digital talent with over 5 million tech workforce.

    The industry recorded nearly 10% estimated growth in direct employee pool in FY2022E with a highest-ever net addition of approximately 450,000 to its employee base. With 1 out of 3 employees already digitally skilled, the digital tech talent pool is at 1.6 million, growing at a CAGR of 25%. With massive focus on reskilling and upskilling, the Indian tech industry reskilled approximately 280k employees in FY2022.     A seven-hour flight from Milan, Italy to New Delhi took almost 60 hours to reach its final destination. After an initial delay at Milan due to adverse weather conditions, Air India flight 0122 was originally expected to land in New Delhi on December 24.
    However, the flight was diverted to Mumbai twice, due to dense fog in the Capital, too. The 259 agitated passengers had to wait at Mumbai airport for almost a day before they were finally flown to Delhi on Christmas afternoon.
    Kshitij Srivastava, a passenger from the flight, told mid-day, "The flight was originally expected to leave Milan on December 23, 2.50 am (IST). However, the weather conditions did not permit the flight to take off till December 24, 12.30 am (IST)."
    The flight, which was expected to reach New Delhi within seven hours, was circling over Indira Gandhi International Airport around 9 am, when passengers were informed that they could not land due to thick fog and poor visibility. The aircraft had to be diverted to Mumbai airport.
