  • Unemployment in Indian EdTech Sector

The country has witnessed growth in the IT sector and a shift towards education, with more than 4,500 EdTech startups have been launched in India to cater the needs of around 300 million students in the country. The sector got a much-needed push due to digital adoption; close to half a billion internet and smartphone users contributed to it.

The lockdown and fear of COVID-19 spread has taken schools, colleges, and educational institutes online, thus leading to the emergence of many EdTech products and services and a rise in adoption.

  • Global Smartphone Production.

#Global_smartphone_production has hit a record low of 250 million units in Q1 2023, it is 19.5% decline from the same period in 2022. Global smartphone production is one of the fastest-growing industries in the world. The massive success of companies like Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, and Huawei has led to an ever-increasing demand for new, innovative smartphones. This trend has been fueled by the rise of emerging markets, with millions of consumers gaining access to these devices for the first time.

As the competition in the smartphone market continues to intensify, manufacturers are under immense pressure to constantly innovate and improve their products. In recent years, this has led to a number of breakthroughs in technology such as foldable screens and 5G connectivity, which have become game-changers in the industry.

#Xiaomismartphone production hit the most during the first quarter of 2023, while Apple iPhone production declined a massive 27.5% QoQ and 11.9% YoY in Q1 2023.

  • Hybrid work going to thrive

The company sources termed the cuts as part of an aggressive measure to reduce excess burn and the need to prioritise profitability over growth. The entire tech sector has been hit by the global economic slowdown. Even giants like Apple, Microsoft and Snap are feeling the squeeze and have cut back on hiring plans.

The Indian IT sector, which has a large part of its earnings from outside India, is also feeling the heat but has not entered the meltdown stage yet. The start-ups, however, are shedding jobs. The list includes Byju’s, Unacademy, Vedantu, Cars24, Ola etc. Ryan Roslansky, CEO of LinkedIn, has said that there will be a hiring freeze across various verticals of the company.

Experts are of the opinion that employees are turning to different platforms to look for new and better opportunities and even upskill themselves for better prospects. The past year was filled with several changes to the conventional workplace, and hybrid work emerged as the new norm. As per a survey, 74% of Indian employers agree that hybrid working is the future and is here to stay for the long run.

We can only expect this trend to continue to evolve as remote, freelance, and contract employees become even more prevalent, and employees seek more work-life balance. The workplace has been evolving drastically, and technology has continued to be at the centre of everything. Hybrid work, however, comes with a few challenges.

Going forward, video collaboration will become the norm of communication. The rise in the adoption of AI is with a focus on the end-user experience. However, if companies can ensure equity in a hybrid work setup, create employee-friendly policies, and focus on embracing collaboration technology deep into an organisation's DNA, hybrid working can not only survive as the future of work but thrive.

  • The growing chip demand

When chip shortages first shut down automotive production lines in 2021, the #semiconductor industry found itself in an unaccustomed spotlight. Suddenly everyone was talking about the tiny chips that enable many different functions. When some high-tech and consumer-electronics companies began to experience chip shortages or voiced concerns about supply chains, the attention intensified. It’s now clear to all: We are living in a semiconductor world. Chip shortages have been aggravated by the pandemic and the confluence of problems has led to the semiconductor shortage.

Hello and welcome to VARINDIA news hour

India's chip demand is growing at nearly double the global rate each year. By 2030, India semiconductor demand is going to reach $110 billion. So, by that time, it will be over 10% of global demand.

In addition to a massive domestic market, India has an ample pool of engineers, which will help the country attract foreign investors and overhaul the local electronics industry.

India will spend $30 billion to overhaul in the tech industry and build up a chip supply chain and is aimed at increasing local production of semiconductors, displays, advanced chemicals, networking and telecom equipment as well as batteries and electronics, said Gourangalal Das, director-general of the India-Taipei Association, the South Asian country's de-facto embassy in Taipei. Das said his country is looking to bring in more mature chips. These include chips made with the relatively less advanced 65-nanometer to 28-nanometer production technologies and are widely used in connectivity chips, display drivers, controller chips for electronic products and electric vehicles.

The advantage of India is having a large number of engineers, natural resources for metals, gas and chemicals. For instance, India is the world's leading producer of sulfuric acid and ammonia, which, after being purified, can be used in chip manufacturing process

  • Right partnerships will be at the forefront of innovation

    #PMModi #13thBRICSSummit #FordIndia

Pandemic has changed the style of every sector. There has been a digital revolution that is adapted by every industry. Connections, conversations and even commerce have shifted to online. Today eight of ten companies are tech and digital companies. Also, the recent advent of 5G and other innovations in the tech industry is paving the way and helping many sectors to grow by giving quick services due to easy accessibility and availability solutions. 96%of companies are either already or considering co-creation with vendors to develop new digital products and services for sustainability and efficiency. 65% of global GDP will be digitized by 2022, creating challenges and opportunities. 61% of partners believe that COVID-19 was a driver for their customers’ digital transformation. IDC is predicting $6.8 trillion of direct investments in digital transformation from 2020 to 2023. With 65% of GDP predicted to be digitized by 2022, partners can move faster and stay ahead of the curve by co-innovating and developing cutting-edge solutions fit for the new digital and electric future.

The biggest opportunities lie in the construction industry due to greater investment in making buildings smart. Commercial buildings account for a significant proportion of overall energy use and emissions production, thus significant savings of up to 30% can be made by reducing energy wastage. IoT is a growing market, which has only increased since the beginning of the pandemic. Research from IDC has found that the energy sector is planning on investing the most in this technology (90%), far beyond the investments planned by the manufacturing sector (80%) and retail and wholesale (75%). The main challenges that these sectors face are all very similar: costs, complexity of deployment and security. This shows that companies are thinking about IoT solutions as part of their overall business strategy in order to harness the data and i
