തെക്കൻ ആഫ്രിക്കയിലെ സാംബിയ, സിംബാബ്വേ അതിർത്തിയിലുള്ള സാംബെസി നദിക്കരയിലെ വെള്ളച്ചാട്ടമാണ് വിക്ടോറിയ വെള്ളച്ചാട്ടം , "The Smoke that Thunders" (ഇടിനാദങ്ങളുടെ പുക) എന്നും പറയാറുണ്ട് .അത്ഭുതങ്ങളുടെ കലവറയാണ് ആഫ്രിക്ക. പിരമിഡുകൾ, ഗാംഭീര്യമുള്ള വെള്ളച്ചാട്ടങ്ങൾ, പർവതനിരകൾ, വരണ്ട മരുഭൂമികൾ, ജിറാഫ് തുടങ്ങിയ വിസ്മയങ്ങൾ ആഫ്രിക്കയിൽ സഞ്ചാരികളെ കാത്തിരിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. നീലിച്ച സമുദ്രങ്ങളാൽ ചുറ്റപ്പെട്ട സ്ഥലമാണ് ആഫ്രിക്ക, ഇവിടം സന്ദര്‍ശിക്കുന്നവരുടെ ആത്മാവിനെ സ്പർശിക്കുന്നതും ഉയർത്തിപ്പിടിക്കുന്നതും ഇത്തരം വിസ്മയ കാഴ്ചകൾ തന്നെയാവും .ആഫ്രിക്ക എന്ന് കേൾക്കുമ്പോൾ മനസ്സിലേക്ക് ആദ്യമെത്തുന്നത് നിധികളുടെയും രഹസ്യങ്ങളുടെയും കലവറയായ പിരമിഡുകളാണ്. എന്നാൽ ഇതിനുമപ്പുറത്ത് വിസ്മയിപ്പിക്കുന്ന കാഴ്ച ഇവിടുണ്ട്. ലോകത്തിലെ ഏഴു പ്രകൃതി അത്ഭുതങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നായി സി.എൻ.എൻ. തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്ത വിക്ടോറിയ വെള്ളച്ചാട്ടമാണ് ഇവിടുത്തെ പ്രധാന കാഴ്ച .ഭൂമിയിലെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ വെള്ളച്ചാട്ടമാണ് വിക്ടോറിയ വെള്ളച്ചാട്ടം.സാംബിയ, സിംബാബ്വേ അതിർത്തിയിലുള്ള സാംബെസി നദിക്കരയിലാണ് വിക്ടോറിയ വെള്ളച്ചാട്ടം. ലോകത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും ഉയർന്നതും, വിശാലമായ വെള്ളച്ചാട്ടവുമല്ല ഇത്. വിക്ടോറിയ വെള്ളച്ചാട്ടത്തിന് 1,708 മീറ്റർ (5,604 അടി) നീളവും 108 മീറ്റർ (354 അടി) ഉയരവും ഉള്ളതായി കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടുന്നു . നാട്ടുകാർ വെള്ളച്ചാട്ടത്തെ “മോസി-ഒ-തുനിയ” എന്ന് വിളിക്കുന്നു. അര്‍ഥം– ‘ഇടിനാദങ്ങളുടെ പുക’. 1855ൽ വിക്ടോറിയ രാജ്ഞിയുടെ സന്ദര്‍ശന ശേഷം അന്നത്തെ മിഷനറി ഡോ. ഡേവിഡ് ലിവിങ്സ്റ്റണാണ് വെള്ളച്ചാട്ടത്തിനു രാജ്ഞിയുടെ പേര് നൽകിയത്. അസാധാരണ വലിപ്പവും ശക്തിയും കാരണം യാത്രക്കാരെ വെള്ളച്ചാട്ടം ഭയപ്പെടുത്തുകയും ചെയ്യും.സാംബിയൻ ഭാഗത്ത് വെള്ളച്ചാട്ടത്തിനു മുകളിലുള്ള സ്വാഭാവിക കുളങ്ങളിൽ യാത്രക്കാര്‍ക്ക് നീന്താനുള്ള സൗകര്യമുണ്ട് .നവംബര്‍ മുതല്‍ ഏപ്രില്‍ വരെ വെള്ളത്തിന്റെ അളവ് വരെ കൂടുതല്‍ ആയിരിക്കും. നയാഗ്ര വെള്ളച്ചാട്ടത്തിന്‍റെ ശക്തി എല്ലാവർക്കും അറിയാവുന്നതാണ് , എന്നാൽ സാംബിയയുടെയും സിംബാബ്വേയുടെയും അതിർത്തിയിലെ തെരുവുകൾ ഒഴുക്കിവിടാൻ ശBy News60 ML | 124 views
