  • India to attract $100 billion in FDI this fiscal

    #FDI has come from 101 countries and is invested across 31 UTs and states and 57 sectors in the country. MSMEs growth forms the essential bedrock of the Indian economy. It has attracted foreign investments, as the government has put in place a liberal and transparent policy wherein most sectors are open to FDI under the automatic route.

    The iconic projects like Make in India, the flagship programme of the Government of India that aspires to facilitate investment, foster innovation, enhance skill development and build best-in-class manufacturing infrastructure, completes eight years of path-breaking reforms on September 25, 2022.

    Secondly, the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme is one of the schemes to attract foreign investment to the country and boost domestic manufacturing. It was launched in 2020-21 as a big boost to the Make in India initiative.

    The PLI scheme incentivises domestic production in strategic growth sectors where India has a comparative advantage. This includes strengthening domestic manufacturing, forming resilient supply chains, making Indian industries more competitive and boosting the export potential.

    More importantly, the government has taken steps to address the import of low-quality and hazardous toys and to enhance domestic manufacture of toys. Import of toys dropped by 70 per cent to $110 million (Rs 877.8 crore) in 2021-22.

    On the other hand, exports rose by 61 per cent to $326 million. Recognising the importance of semiconductors in the global economy, the government has launched a $10-billion incentive scheme to build a semiconductor, display and design ecosystem in India.

    Guided by the principle of ‘Reform, Perform and Transform’ the Government of India has brought in several reforms which have furthered ‘Ease of Doing Business’. It includes liberalisation of guidelines and regulations in order to reduce unnecessary compliance burden, bringing down costs and enhancing the ease

    Ransomware is like the current pandemic, it gives a feeling of being both distant and not dangerous, when in the midst of it you understand what it really is. You don’t know what has hit you and where to go. Ransomware has been steadily gaining ground for the last few years, but for those unaffected, it seemed to be an academic exercise. At the same time , the whole World has ended up paying ransom in the recent past. If we go by some of the ransom payments this year; $2.3 million by Travelex, Colonial Pipelines $5 million, JBS $11 million, Garmin was demanded $10 million but payment not known, Cognizant April 2021 payment not known etc. In the last two cases the data was decrypted, so you can come to your own fair judgement. This gives a clear indication of the fact that the ransomware industry is moving steadily in the direction of targeted ransomware attacks. They feel that is where the money is and they have been proven right.



    The technical, social engineering and business acumen professionalism which these hackers have gained over the years have emboldened them to go in for bigger catches. They have realised that they have the skills by which they can turn the world upside down and they are doing it. Every single case proves their hypothesis. The world is just not ready to handle a crime of this nature. WannaCry was a test case of crowdsourcing ransom. Its spread was phenomenal, nobody knew what was the quantum of actual proceeds? The surprising part is, even after the ransom was paid, the copy of the data remained with them, which is then offered for further extortion; financial blackmail, sell it to business competitors; simply, make maximum money out of that data, whichever way. To add to the agony nearly 36% of the companies / victims face a second attack by the same hackers.

  • India's software industry to touch $30 bn revenue by 2025: Nasscom

    India's software products sales are likely to hit $30 billion mark by 2025, as domestic companies expand their footprints globally and many new players are getting into the products space, as per the report from Nasscom and UnearthInsight. Software products could include customer relation management (CRM), enterprise resource planning tools or human capital management, etc. Furthermore, licensed software products created by domestic companies such as Ramco Systems and Infosys for payroll management and core banking fall under this definition. The report says, the software products market is estimated to clock $13.3 billion in annual revenue for the FY22 ended March 31, after logging a CAGR of over 10 per cent in the previous three financial years. India is the leading sourcing destination across the world, accounting for approximately 55% market share of the US$ 200-250 billion global services sourcing business in 2019-20.

    The IT industry accounted for 8% of India’s GDP in 2020. Indian IT's core competencies and strengths have attracted significant investment from major countries. The computer software and hardware sector in India attracted cumulative foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows worth US$ 74.12 billion between April 2000 and June 2021. The sector ranked 2nd in FDI inflows as per the data released by Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). Japanese investments in the Indian IT sector grew 4X between 2016 and 2020. Investments stood at US$ 9.2 billion in the review period. Leading Indian IT firms like Infosys, Wipro, TCS and Tech Mahindra are diversifying their offerings and showcasing leading ideas in blockchain and artificial intelligence to clients using innovation hubs and research and development centres to create differentiated offerings. According to STPI (Software Technology Park of India), software exports by the IT companies connected to it stood at Rs. 1.20 lakh crore (US$ 16.29 billion) in the first

The radio waves are reflected in the receiver by geosynchronous low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellites that are in a fixed position in the sky. The data is transmitted to the satellite. Satellite internet could be the next big step in internet connectivity. Once a fleet of satellites is in orbit, companies would only need to set up the satellite receiver and modem to provide access to the internet from almost any corner of the world. There is no need for cables or other ground-based infrastructure at the customer’s access point. It would stand to revolutionise internet access the same way that the satellite DTH broadcasting services did for television access in India.

    A broad security model that has been considered for implementation is modern cloud-native architecture for enterprise applications. The Zero Trust (ZT) approach leverages continuous resource monitoring and dynamic risk evaluations to protect every individual asset/resource against a potential attacker within the network, hence “Zero Trust.” The heart of Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) is the Policy Engine (PE). PE is ultimately the decision maker on granting or refusing access using various datasets per session basis. This allows us to move away from the user-id/password-based authentication and authorization model. Most enterprises will not implement a Policy Engine but buy one from a leading solution provider. The Policy Engine providers are actively innovating and providing interesting approaches to mitigate threats. However, the biggest hindrance has not been solution capability but the implementation and configuration of the architecture that best suits their needs. This leads to clients asking how they go about enabling this “ZTA” in their organization.
