The use of electronic equipment has increased dramatically in India due to the rapid expansion of the IT and communications industries. Because of the increased concern over e-waste, there is a greater emphasis on recycling and better e-waste management. After the United States and China, India is the world’s largest producer of e-waste, producing 3.23 million tonnes per year.
Through e-waste recycling programs, individuals and organizations can take responsibility for the end-of-life of their electronic devices and contribute to the global effort of sustainable development. The ethical and environmental implications of e-waste disposal are gaining awareness and recognition, creating a greater demand for responsible recycling practices.
India is currently 5th largest economy and by 2030 it will become the third largest economy. India has enormous potential for the recycling of e-waste. With its rapidly growing economy, increasing consumption of electronic devices, and a large population, the country generates a substantial amount of electronic waste. ഇലക്ട്രിക് കാറുകളായിരിക്കും ഭാവിയുടെ വാഹനങ്ങൾ. കാഴ്ചയിൽ അവ സാധാരണ വാഹനങ്ങൾ തന്നെയാണെങ്കിലും പരമ്പരാഗത ഇന്ധനം ഉപയോഗിച്ച് പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്ന കാറുകളിൽ നിന്നു അവ തികച്ചും വ്യത്യസ്തമായിരിക്കും. മറ്റു വാഹനങ്ങളെക്കാൾ മലിനീകരണം കുറവാണ് എന്നല്ല പലപ്പോഴും മലിനീകരണം അശേഷം ഉണ്ടാവില്ല. ബാറ്ററി പാക്കുകളില് വൈദ്യുതി സംഭരിച്ചുവച്ചാണ് ഇലക്ട്രിക് വാഹനങ്ങൾ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നത്.
ഇലക്ട്രിക് വാഹനങ്ങളും ആന്തരിക ജ്വലന യന്ത്രത്തിനു (internal combustion engine) പകരമായി ഇലക്ട്രിക് മോട്ടോറുകള് ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നു. ഇത്തരം വാഹനങ്ങള് വലിയ ട്രാക്ഷന് ബാറ്ററി പാക്കുകള് ഉപയോഗിച്ചാണ് അതിന്റെ എൻജിന് ശക്തി പകരുന്നത്. ഈ ബാറ്ററിയെ ചാര്ജിങ് സ്റ്റേഷനുകളിലെയോ സ്വന്തമോ ആയ വാള് പ്ലഗുകളില് കുത്തിയിട്ടാണ് ചാര്ജ് നിറയ്ക്കുന്നത്. ഇത്തരം വാഹനങ്ങള് വൈദ്യുതിയെ മാത്രം ആശ്രയിക്കുന്നതിനാല്, അവയ്ക്ക് സങ്കീർണമായി എക്സ്ഹോസ്റ്റ് സിസ്റ്റത്തിന്റെ ആവശ്യമില്ല. കൂടാതെ ദ്രവ്യാവസ്ഥയിലുള്ള ഇന്ധനങ്ങളൊന്നും ഉപയോഗിക്കാത്തതിനാല് അവ സംഭരിക്കാനുള്ള ടാങ്കുകളും ആവശ്യമില്ല.

വരാനിരിക്കുന്നത് ഇലക്ട്രിക് കാറുകളുടെ യുഗമാണ്. പെട്രോളും ഡീസലും വേണ്ടാത്ത വൈദ്യുതിയിലോടുന്ന ഇലക്ട്രിക് കാറുകളുടെ യുഗം. 2030ൽ വിൽക്കുന്ന സ്വകാര്യ കാറുകളിൽ 30 ശതമാനം ഇലക്ട്രിക് കാറാക്കി മാറ്റാനാണ് സർക്കാർ ശ്രമിക്കുന്നത്. അതായത് ഓരോ പത്തു കാറിലും 3 എണ്ണം ഇലക്ട്രിക്. കൂടാതെ കോമേഷ്യൻ വാഹനങ്ങളുടെ 70 ശതമാനവും ബസുകളുടെ 40 ശതമാനവും ഇരുചക്ര മുചക്ര വാഹനങ്ങളിൽ 80 ശതമാനവും ഇലക്ട്രിക് ആക്കാനാണ് ശ്രമിക്കുന്നത്
റോക്കറ്റിന്റെ വരെ മൈലേജ് ചോദിക്കുന്നവർ എന്ന ചീത്തപ്പേരുള്ള നാം ആദ്യ ചിന്തിക്കുക ഇലക്ട്രിക് കാറിന്റെ റേഞ്ചിനെപ്പറ്റിയായിരിക്കും, കൂടെ വഴിയിൽ കിടക്കുമോ എന്ന പേടിയും. എന്നാൽ 100 മുതൽ 400 കിലോമീറ്റർ വരെ മൈലേജുള്ള ഇലക്ട്രിക് കാറുകൾ വിപണിയിലെത്തിക്കഴിഞ്ഞു, അതിലധികം റേഞ്ചുള്ളവ വരാനിരിക്കുന്നു. റേഞ്ചു കഴിഞ്ഞാൽ രണ്ടാമത്തെ ചോദ്യം ഒരു പ്രവശ്യം ചാർജ് ചെയ്യാൻ എത്ര യൂണിറ്റ് വൈദ്യുതി ചിലവാകും എന്നായിരിക്കും.
