Robots Vs cobots
Cooperative mobile robots (otherwise known as cobots), provide less risk to human safety than traditional robots and are better suited for environments that require adaptability. They offer flexibility for fluctuating work environments that traditional robots can't match. Deployment for a cobot solution is typically less involved than the traditional robot.
Cobots, just like traditional industrial robots, consist of a mechanical arm that can be programmed to perform various tasks in the factory setting such as material handling, assembly, process tasks, quality inspection and packaging. This allows its human co-worker to focus on other tasks that require greater dexterity and cognitive abilities than the cobot which focuses on repetitive tasks.
There are a wider set of use cases and a larger group of users can be considered for collaborative applications. This versatility renders cobots better candidates than traditional robots for production automation in the case of small or medium businesses.
As their capabilities evolve, they will become responsible for even more complex tasks requiring tightly interacting and cobots, collaborating both with humans or other autonomous systems while solving to avoid detrimental incidents. Furthermore, many AI systems will exist solely as software, for example, in the cloud, acting as an AI partner assisting the user whenever interacting with a connected device or system.
More recently, collaborative robots stepped into the ring as a challenger to conventional robots. They might look similar to some conventional industrial robots, but they are lighter and easier to use. Companies have started adopting cobots at an impressive rate.

The Covid-19 pandemic and the pathogen’s steady stream of variants have brought unprecedented disruption in the workplace and forced many professions to adopt technology. It also brought to the fore the fact that not every work or job required occupying space in an office. If we look at the global employment figure of around 3.33 billion, around 2 billion people operate in an informal employment mode; of this, the gig economy is already touching 200 million. Gig economy today ranges from ride-sharing, deliveries, home-services, beauty and wellness to even gig-work in the hi-tech space such as coding, project management, marketing, fintech, pharma, edu-tech and so on. Even MGNREGA, technically, is another form of gig work. The prime minister recently mentioned that 800 million people in India received free ration and benefited from the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana. This also indicates that a vast section of the population is still vulnerable, and we need to work harder to create more work opportunities for their livelihood. With the advent of internet and smartphone penetration, the gig economy started to grow, and due to its flexible and participatory nature, it gave the freedom and opportunity for workers to choose days/hours one wanted to engage to earn. However, one concern that kept everyone awake was social coverage and safety.
The ministry of labour has demonstrated India’s progressive outlook and is the first to acknowledge the growing number of workers associated with the unorganised sector and gig by extending social security benefits to them. Almost all notable start-ups operating in the gig economy space provide the gig workers with some form of social security cover like insurance and other benefits, and have often supplemented these provisions with additional voluntary provisions in many cases. There are attacks targeting telecommunications and retail more than doubled in the past year. A report highlights an explosion in adversary activity, both in volume and velocity. CrowdStrike’s threat hunters tracked a 60% increase in attempted intrusions spanning all industry verticals and geographic regions. The report also showcases a significant drop in average breakout time – the time it takes for an intruder to begin moving laterally outside of the initial beachhead to other systems in the network – of just one hour 32 minutes, a threefold decrease from 2020. These sobering statistics show how threat actors are constantly adapting tactics, techniques, and procedures to accelerate their march toward their objectives.
The report further highlights:
Adversaries have moved beyond malware. They are using increasingly sophisticated and stealthy techniques tailor-made to evade detections.
China, North Korea and Iran were the most active state-sponsored groups. The report reveals the majority of targeted intrusion activity from adversary groups were based out of China, North Korea, and Iran.
A massive surge in interactive intrusion activity targeting the telecommunications industry. This activity spans all major geographic regions and has been tied to a diverse range of adversaries.
WIZARD SPIDER was the most prolific cybercriminal. In fact, this group was seen in nearly double the number of attempted intrusions than any other eCrime group. WIZARD SPIDER is behind targeted operations using Ryuk and, more recently, Conti ransomware.
A 100% increase in instances of cryptojacking in interactive intrusions year-over- year, correlating with increases in cryptocurrency prices.
