    1638 में शाहजहां के आदेश पर मुहर्रम के पवित्र महीने में दिल्ली के लाल किले का निर्माण कार्य शुरू हुआ। लाल बलुआ पत्थर से 10 वर्षों में इस किले का निर्माण कार्य पूरा हुआ था। यूनेस्को ने 2007 में लाल किले को विश्व धरोहर घोषित किया। इस खूबसूरत विशाल किले में उस समय तीन हजार लोगों के रहने की व्यवस्था थी।

    -1962 में सर्वपल्ली राधाकृष्णन देश के दूसरे राष्ट्रपति बने। इनका कार्यकाल 13 मई, 1962 से लेकर 13 मई, 1967 तक रहा। डॉक्टर सर्वपल्ली राधाकृष्णन भारतीय संस्कृति के ज्ञानी, एक महान शिक्षाविद,महान दार्शनिक, महान वक्ता होने के साथ-साथ एक विज्ञानी हिन्दू विचारक भी थे। डॉक्टर राधाकृष्णन ने अपने जीवन के 40 वर्ष एक शिक्षक के रूप में व्यतीत किए।

    -1967 में आज के दिन डॉक्टर जाकिर हुसैन ने भारत के राष्ट्रपति का पद संभाला था। वह भारत के तीसरे राष्ट्रपति तथा प्रमुख शिक्षाविद् थे। 1920 में उन्होंने जामिया मिलिया इस्लामिया यूनिवर्सिटी की स्थापना में खास योगदान दिया और उसके उपकुलपति भी रहे। महात्मा गांधी के निमंत्रण पर वह प्राथमिक शिक्षा के राष्ट्रीय आयोग के अध्यक्ष भी बने।
