महेश नवमी ज्येष्ठ माह में शुक्ल पक्ष की नवमी तिथि को मनाई जाती है। यह नवमी माहेश्वरी समाज की उत्पत्ति का दिन है। माहेश्वरी समाज की उत्पत्ति भगवान शिव के वरदान स्वरूप मानी गई है। महेश नवमी 'माहेश्वरी धर्म' में विश्वास करने वाले लोगों का प्रमुख त्योहार है। इस पावन पर्व को हर्षउल्लास व धूमधाम से मनाना प्रत्येक माहेश्वरी का कर्त्तव्य है और समाज उत्थान व एकता के लिए अत्यंत आवश्यक भी है। 'महेश' स्वरूप में आराध्य 'शिव' पृथ्वी से भी ऊपर कोमल कमल पुष्प पर बेलपत्ती, त्रिपुंड्र, त्रिशूल, डमरू के साथ लिंग रूप में शोभायमान होते हैं।
