ആസന്നമൃതിയോടടുക്കുന്ന ഭൂമിയുടെ രക്ഷയ്ക്ക് ഒടുവിൽ ഒരാൾ വരികതന്നെ ചെയ്തു. കാലാവസ്ഥാമാറ്റത്തോടു നിസ്സംഗത പുലർത്തുന്ന ഭരണാധികാരികളെയും പൊതുസമൂഹത്തെയും അവൾ തട്ടിയുണർത്തി. ഗ്രേറ്റ എന്ന ജ്വാല കെട്ടടങ്ങുകയില്ലെന്നാണ് എന്റെ പ്രതീക്ഷ.
കേവലം 16 വയസ്സുള്ള ഗ്രേറ്റ ട്യുൻബെർഗ് എന്ന സ്വീഡിഷ് പെൺകുട്ടി തുടക്കമിട്ട ഒറ്റയാൻ പ്രതിഷേധമാണ് കഴിഞ്ഞ ദിവസം യുഎൻ കാലാവസ്ഥാ അടിയന്തര ഉച്ചകോടിയുടെ വേദിയിലേക്കും പടർന്നുകയറി, വാക്കുകളുടെ തീമഴയായി മാറിയത്. ലോകം കാതോർത്ത ആ പ്രസംഗം ആഗോള കാലാവസ്ഥാ സംരക്ഷണ ചരിത്രത്തിലെ നാഴികക്കല്ലായി.
2018ൽ സ്വീ‍ഡനിലെ പൊതു തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പു സമയത്താണ് ഗ്രേറ്റ ആ തീരുമാനമെടുത്തത്. ഇനി മുതൽ സ്കൂളിൽ പോകുന്നില്ല. ആദ്യമൊന്നും ആരും ഗൗനിക്കാതിരുന്ന സമരം കുട്ടികൾ ഏറ്റെടുത്തു. പിന്നീട് രാജ്യങ്ങളിൽനിന്നു രാജ്യങ്ങളിലേക്കു പടർന്നു. കാലാവസ്ഥാമാറ്റത്തിൽ നിന്ന് ഈ ജീവഗ്രഹത്തെ മോചിപ്പിക്കുക എന്നതായിരുന്നു ആ ബാലിക ഉയർത്തിയ സന്ദേശം. പിന്നീട് എല്ലാ വെള്ളിയാഴ്ചയുമായി സമരം. ‘ഫ്രൈഡേയ്സ് ഫോർ ഫ്യൂച്ചർ’ പ്രക്ഷോഭത്തിന്റെ തുടക്കം അങ്ങനെയായിരുന്നു.
ഞങ്ങ‍ൾക്കൊരു ഭാവിയുണ്ടോ എന്ന നടുക്കുന്ന ചോദ്യമാണ് ഗ്രേറ്റ ലോകത്തോടു ചോദിച്ചത്. ‘മുതിർന്നവരേ, നിങ്ങൾ എന്താണ് ഞങ്ങൾക്കു വേണ്ടി അവശേഷിപ്പിക്കുക? തിരുത്തലിനു നിങ്ങൾ എന്തെങ്കിലും ചെയ്യുന്നുണ്ടോ?’കാലാവസ്ഥാമാ&റ്റത്തെ നേരിടാൻ ഉച്ചകോടി കൂടുകയല്ലാതെ, കാര്യമായി ഒന്നും ചെയ്യാത്ത ലോകരാഷ്ട്രത്തലവന്മാർ ഉത്തരമില്ലാതെ തലകുനിച്ചു.മുതിർന്ന തലമുറയുടെ കോർപറേറ്റ് മുറികളിലേക്കും മന്ത്രിസഭാ യോഗങ്ങളിലേക്കും അവളുടെ രോദനം തുളച്ചുകയറി. സർവനാശത്തെ ചെറുക്കാനുള്ള മറ്റൊരവസരമാണ് ഗ്രേറ്റ ലോകത്തിനും നമ്മൾ മുതിർന്നവർക്കും മുന്നിൽ തുറന്നിട്ടിരിക്കുന്നത്. വരുംതലമുറകളുടെ ജീവൻകൂടി നിലനിർത്തുക എന്ന ലക്ഷ്യത്തിലേക്കു നമ്മൾ ഇന്നത്തെ വികസനക്കണക്കുപുസ്തകം മാറ്റിയെഴുതിയാൽ ഭൂമിയിലെ ജീവയോഗ്യമായ കാലാവസ്ഥയെ കഷ്ടിച്ചു നിലനിർത്താനാവും.
