भारतीय रेलवे और आईआरसीटीसी ने टिकट आरक्षण और टिकट रद्द कराने वाले फॉर्म में महिला व पुरुष के साथ-साथ 'ट्रांसजेंडर को तीसरे लिंग' के तौर पर शामिल कर लिया है. एक अधिवक्ता के आवेदन पर यह निर्णय लिया गया है. टिकट आरक्षण और रद्द कराने के अलावा यह सुविधा ऑनलाइन और ऑफलाइन भी उपलब्ध होगी. दिल्ली हाईकोर्ट ने फरवरी में एक अधिवक्ता से अपनी याचिका पर कार्रवाई के लिए रेलवे मंत्रालय से संपर्क करने को कहा था. मंत्रालय ने शीर्ष न्यायालय के अप्रैल-2014 के निर्देशों का संदर्भ देते हुये बताया कि हिजड़ा, किन्नर और बाइनरी के अधिकारों की रक्षा के लिए अब उन्हें तीसरे लिंग के रूप में माना जाएगा. गौरतलब है सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने अपने निर्णय में संविधान के तृतीय भाग और संसद के द्वारा बनाए गए कानून के तहत हिजड़ा और किन्नर के साथ-साथ बाइनरी के अधिकारों की रक्षा के लिए उन्हें तीसरे लिंग के रूप में मान्यता देने का निर्देश दिया था. परिपत्र में कहा गया, 'निर्देशों के तहत टिकट आरक्षण, रद्द कराने के फार्म में महिला और पुरुष के साथ-साथ ट्रांसजेंडर का विकल्प भी शामिल करने का निर्णय किया गया है. प्रणाली में यह सूचना दर्ज कर ली जाएगी, जबकि उन्हें पूरी कीमत पर टिकट जारी किया जाएगा.'
