    The African and American Champions were certainly expecting more from this competition, especially Argentina, traditionally doing well at the junior level and widely named amongst the favorites before the start of this 2013 Hero Hockey Junior World Cup.

    South Africa were faster off the starting blocks and up by one goal within three minutes of play by Matthew Brown on penalty-corner. Argentina recovered from their shaky start and were back on par in the 13th minute thanks to a powerful low drag-flick by Gonzalo Peillat that slid off the stick of the post-defender.

    Argentina increased their pressure and were all over the South African circle. Isidoro Carlos Ibarra missed a deflection at the far post by a whisker and they were denied a penalty-corner on a video-referral, but were finally rewarded in the 21st minute when Lautaro Diaz managed to put an end to a wild pinball session in front of Rene De La Peyre in the South African goal.

    Joaquin Leonel Coelho added a field goal soon after and Argentina walked into the break with a fairly comfortable two-goal cushion.     "The last match of pool play between India and Korea was eagerly expected by the Indian fans and media. The local team absolutely needed to win to qualify for the quarter-finals, when a loss or even a draw would push Korea through.

    India was immediately on the attack and forced a penalty-corner in the 3rd minute, but Lee Seyoung easily saved the low drag flick. Korea were equally unsuccessful on their first penalty-corner when You Seungju crashed his powerful drag-flick on the crossbar. The match was launched on a high tempo and the crowd was in for a thriller!

    Korea had another penalty-corner opportunity but You Seungju was again a tad too high. He however managed to make the necessary adjustment and was on target in the 16th minute, silencing the crowd with a flick over the head of Sushant Tirkey in the Indian goal.

    Atmosphere was hot in the stands and on the pitch and Korea picked up two yellow cards in the battle. They did not seem bothered by the situation and even created a good scoring chance while playing short two men. India saw many of their passes going astray and wasted another corner chance before Gurjinder Singh was finally on target on yet another penalty-corner three minutes from time.

    It was Malaysia that got onto the score sheet first, with a well worked penalty corner converted by Muhammad Bin Saabah, 1-0 Malaysia.

    New Zealand levelled the score soon after with a penalty corner of their own, a pacey drag flick into the roof of the net from Kane Russell.

    Ashari Firhan came close to giving Malaysia the lead with a reverse stick shot, after a surging run, to only see his shot head into the side netting.

    Ninety seconds into the second half, Malaysia took the lead against the run of play, Faiz Bin Jali's drive into the circle, finds Muhammad Bin Baharom unmarked at the far post to tap in.

    Both teams wanted to redeem themselves after losing their opening matches and play was immediately animated. England drew first blood in the 14th minute by James Gall, cleverly pulling away from traffic in the circle to find space and blast a shot on goal.

    They nearly doubled their tally when Nicholas Bandurak arrived alone in the circle after stealing a ball in midfield but he was thwarted by Richard Joyce in the Black Sticks goal. England however did not miss their chance on the resulting penalty-corner and Luke Taylor increased their lead to 2-0 with a high drag-flick.

    New Zealand came back firing on all cylinders after the break and immediately forced a couple of penalty-corners. They bobbled the first one but Kane Russell's low flick hit the target on the second one, bringing back the Kiwis within reach of England in the 39th minute.     Malaysia doubled their lead; a fantastic run down the left from Azuan Hasan, Hasan's pull back found Ashari Firhan who dispatched the shot between the keeper's legs.

    England pulled one back before the break, Luke Taylor scoring from a penalty corner, right to left dragflick, beating Hazrul Sobri to his right. Taylor getting his second of the tournament.

    England kept trying but were consistently denied by Hazrul Sobri, in dazzling form in the Malaysian goal, this time preventing Nicholas Bandurak from close range.

South Africa met New Zealand in Hero Hockey Junior World Cup Pool D in New Delhi, South Africa went into the game in driving seat, needing only to avoid losing to advance to the quarter-finals, but it was New Zealand's Kane Russell with the deciding goal to give Black sticks slender 1-0 victory, who Qualify for the quarter -- finals.

South Africa had the best chance of the first half, after great play down the right, Damian Kimfley found himself in front of an open goal, but could only hit his shot wide, an unbelievable miss.

Down the other end New Zealand came close to taking the lead, Daniel Bell's shot from a well worked penalty corner, pushed over by an on rushing Oliver Macintyre.

South Africa came close from a penalty corner of their own, Matthew's Browns shot forcing two quick saves the first coming from keeper Ben Smith, and the second by Sanjay Lala, tipping Browns shot over the bar.

New Zealand got there breakthrough in the 10 minutes into the second half, Kane Russell getting his fourth goal of the tournament, this one coming from a penalty corner, a powerful dragflick into the side netting.

Moments later Kane Russell was denied his second of the game by am unbelievable save from Richard Curtis.
